As if I have nothing else to do than
creating a new internet business… Here I am, single working
mother, living and working in Myanmar (see
http://www.myanmartravel.net), finally got my divorce
after 7 years
(!) and still waiting for the division of our
properties which might take another 3 years - but luckily life
goes on and so my ideas for new ventures!
In October 2004 I was with Soe Soe, my assistant of 6 years (and
director of my travel company), at
a business trip in Bangkok and while we talked with my webmaster
(who is managing my web sites) we found out that he also successfully
sells Thai dresses on the net. WOW, we said, ran to the computer,
searched the web and ‘yahoo, yahoo,
yahoo’
- found nothing,
really NOTHING which could compete with our idea to sell Myanma dresses,
made of the finest Myanma silk and cotton at affordable prices
online.
Yes, we know, Thai silk is very popular and most people do not
know about the exquisite fabrics of Myanma silk! This site is for
both Myanma expats who cannot get their traditional dresses for
various occasions in the country they live as well as for the
many others who had (or have!) no clue of how beautiful and
fashionable Myanma dresses are!
Each garment made from our fabrics is a timeless and unique
piece of art. As the Myanma silk and cotton are hand-woven, it will forever carry an imprint of the
character and spirit of the weaver.
It was really lots of fun to create this site. We even got
some top models who posed for us -
and I must admit: When I saw those precious wedding gowns,
I had a ‘quarter of a
second thought', wishing I could marry again :)
But we luckily do also have Myanma hand-woven silk and cotton
dresses for any other occasion and YES, you can choose among
a wide variety of
colours and patterns (!) and, if you can’t
decide, we will help you!
And who takes care of this business? It’s Soe Soe! She
will assist you, whether she has to answer in English or Burmese!
Just contact us!
And
last, but not least: 5 % will
be contributed to FinnConnect, a local Myanmar Association (more
about Finnconnect see at http://www.myanmartravel.net/finnconnect.htm).
